Just to share that my 5 weeks old Mazda 3 1.6 fuel consumption is very high. City drive is only 7km per liter and highway is below 10km per liter. After the 1000km service which I brought up to the service center, nothing seems improve after the service.
Anyone has better fuel performance on their Mazda 3 1.6?
thanks

Hi whitemaz,

Im indeed surprised at the figure given after 1st service. Can you provide more details as to:

1)Cruising at what speed/ rpm ?
2)Gasoline grade: RON 95/ RON 97 ?

Strangely u get such a high fuel consumption, for me i get 10km/ltr in extra urban drive (kl very jammed area 13km took me 45 minutes drive, imagine that), on highway i can get 11-12km/ltr, my is less than 5000km mileage.

Either i use Bhp 97, shell 97 or bhp 95, esso 95, i don't use shell 95 becoz no power.

Speed shall be 70 - 100km/h depends on the traffic.
Highway shall be around 100-120km/hr
Using BHP97... so far this petrol can give you the extra power feel. However, now switch to Bhp95 due to too costly on RON97.
The consumption at worst recorded 6.8km/L! best 9.7km/L

Fuel consumption will get better after the engine run in.

City drive i can get best 11.2km/ltr worst 9.8km/ltr.

So far can still tahan ron97 price, but if adjust further i am going for Esso 95, becoz Bhp 95 not very good.

Usually engine will take some time to adjust when u switch to lower octane fuel.

whitemaz,

After 1st service, you should be able to achieve around 8.3L/100km for combined urban and non-urban.

Thus, based on the current RON95 pricing the number should be about 15.7sen/km.

Cheers,
